Interview Episode Hosted by Camden Bilotti
Welcome into the CV Show. Today, we sit down with Trey Styer out of Lumberport, West Virginia, a senior in sports and adventure media. Well, Trey, how you doing?
Speaker 2:Doing pretty good, man. Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's a pleasure to have you. Well, let's get right into it. Obviously, from West Virginia, didn't wanna looks like you didn't wanna leave the state. What made you choose WVU?
Speaker 2:Man, growing up here all my life watching mountaineer football and just being around WVU, everybody around here bleeds blue and gold. It doesn't matter whether they're football fans, basketball fans, anything. There's so many West Virginia logos and West Virginia fans around here. And pretty much from day 1, this is the place I wanted to go to. Not only is it close to home, but I I mean, I grew up dreaming about being a mountaineer.
Speaker 2:So this was the place to go, and then it just so happens that I wasn't really decided on what I wanted to do for a lot of high school. But then I was leaning toward journalism or sports media. And I found out that they had an exceptional sports media program, which made the deal even sweeter. And I thought it was a no brainer to apply here, not only where I dreamed of going, but somewhere that I thought could really set me on a great path for my career future.
Speaker 1:Yeah. For sure. And speaking of that, we'll jump right into that one, career future. What are your goals after graduation?
Speaker 2:Man, goals after graduation, it's gonna take me a long time to get there because I don't really have experience in it now. But at the end of the day, I would love to be a play by play commentator. Obviously, I've done for people who don't know me, I've been riding for the past year or so on professional motocross. I wrote for imperativemx.com from September of last year to the end of February, and then I interned for We Went Fast during the summer and helped provide stats for the broadcast team. And I I worked as a PA for NBC during the high point round, which is 5 minutes north of here.
Speaker 2:But, man, it's been a great experience so far, and it's kinda crazy to look back and see how far I've come in a year. But I know I still got work to do and do a Mountaineer Playbook this semester, which is a sports news show, produced and broadcasted from WVU students. I believe that's gonna help me get comfortable on camera and help lead me to some more opportunities. And if I perform well there, I think that's gonna put my name out there even more. And I just gotta take the opportunities that come to me, and I just gotta keep working and keep grinding.
Speaker 2:Because I know that if I keep putting my name out there and I stay consistent, people are gonna wanna see that and people are gonna know that I'm committed to my future and to what I wanna do.
Speaker 1:Yeah. And we'll wrap up real quick here. I'm gonna throw a curve ball at you. What's your thoughts on Joey Logano?
Speaker 2:My thoughts on Joey Logano, growing up watching NASCAR my whole life, I've never been a huge fan of his, but I I can't deny his talent. You know, he's definitely one of the best drivers in recent memory. 2 championships speak for themselves. He just got a one yesterday at Atlanta and he's rolling. He might be a championship 4 sleeper this year.
Speaker 1:Well, that'll wrap it up here on the CB podcast. We thank Trey for, joining us today. Peace out.
